Krishok Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique on Monday called upon President Abdul Hamid to intervene in order to resolve the current political impasse in the country.
The veteran politician made the call at a press conference, which was held at the National Press Club on Monday.
He demanded that the government address the issue of a polls-time non-party interim government within 72 hours.
The leader also called upon the opposition to withdraw their hartal considering students’ suffering and the country’s economic situation.
He came down hard on the government for arresting five top BNP leaders and adopting repressive measures to knock out the opposition.
Kader laid blame on the Awami League-led government for the elimination of the caretaker government system by amending the constitution.
He urged all political parties, irrespective of size, to come forward and figure out a solution to the current political situation.
In his address, Bikalpadhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury said the government should take immediate steps for resolving the current political crisis.
He said it was high time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resumed dialogue with all opposition parties on the issue of the election-time government.
