The Election Commission (EC) is considering requesting the president for deploying the army during the upcoming general elections considering the situation.
Election Commissioner Mohammad Shah Newaz made this disclosure while talking to journalists at the commission headquarters on Monday afternoon.
“The commission will get all facilities as per the constitution during the polls. So we will request the president for army deployment during the next general elections for holding the polls in a fair manner,” he said.
It will be tough for the EC to hold a fair election with existing law enforcement agencies, he added.
When asked, he said: “The commission would soon decide on announcing the polls schedule of the next parliamentary elections at its meeting.”
