The residences of eight BNP activists were vandalised in a targeted attack in Narsingdi on Friday night, in which five individuals were also injured.
The attack was allegedly made by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
According to the victim families, a group of 20-25 armed men led by Chhatra League cadre Moniruzzaman alias Monir attacked the houses of BNP activists, damaged furniture and electronic materials and looted valuables worth millions. The incident occurred at the Shantanpara area under Polash upazila of the district on October 1.
Polash police said the incident could be an “act of vengeance” as BCL activists including Monir, earlier on October 31, were attacked by BNP supporters during a procession on October 31.
The injured were admitted to the Narsingdi general hospital.
