Hartal in Bogra over Tarique’s ‘voting rights’

Update : 31 Oct 2013, 12:59 PM

Claiming that Tarique Rahman’s name has been excluded from the voter list, district BNP announced a dawn-to-dusk hartal on Tuesday in Bogra demanding the inclusion of his name.

Jaynal Abedin Chand, secretary of district unit of BNP, made the declaration in a rally organised at the Satmatha of Bogra Town. The 18-party alliance has supported the hartal called in by BNP.

Tarique Rahman is currently staying in London. He was arrested during the last caretaker government’s regime in 2007, travelling to London for treatment later.

When contacted on whether Tarique Rahman was excluded from the voter list, Jaynal Abedin said: “It was confirmed by the central command of the party.”

The same was accorded in the voice of Shahe Alam, organising secretary of the district BNP.
