Shibir men beat BCL activist

A gang of Islami Chhatra Shibir men allegedly beat up an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League on Wenesday after taking him to the library of Chittagong Government College.

Mahmudul Karim, a 22-year-old a second year student of history at the college, was released after an hour.  Police arrested three outsiders from the college campus, said Mirza Saiem Mahmud, assistant commissioner of Kotwali police station.

Six to seven Shibir men of the college unit allegedly forcibly took Karim to the college library at around 4pm, saying that Rokonuddin, general secretary of Shibir college unit, had called for him. The victim claimed six or seven more Shibir men later beat him indiscriminately in the library. Karim later received treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
