Rashed Khan: Kushtia BNP not involved in attack on Nasiruddin Patwary

He said he had spoken with local administration officials and BNP leaders about the matter

Prime Minister’s Political Assistant Rashed Khan has said BNP leaders and activists in Kushtia were not involved in the attack on National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Nasiruddin Patwary.

He made the remarks in a social media post on Sunday night.

Rashed Khan said Patwary had been in Kushtia since Saturday and visited various parts of the district. According to him, no BNP leader or activist, or member of any affiliated organisation, was involved in any altercation with Patwary.

He said Patwary later visited the shrine of Lalon Shah with NCP leaders and activists and spent considerable time with the devotees there.

“While they were leaving, an argument broke out between NCP members and some other individuals, leading to an unfortunate incident in which a vehicle was vandalised. BNP leaders and activists in Kushtia had no involvement in the incident,” Rashed Khan wrote.

He said he had spoken with local administration officials and BNP leaders about the matter, adding that none of them had been aware of Patwary’s visit to the Lalon Shah shrine.

Rashed Khan also questioned why Patwary had not informed the administration about his visit.

He said police arrived immediately after learning about the incident. However, according to his post, Patwary travelled a short distance under police escort before switching vehicles and leaving the area.

Rashed Khan contrasted this with an earlier incident in Jhenaidah, where Patwary went directly to a police station following an incident.

He questioned why Patwary had allegedly avoided police and left the area after the Kushtia incident, saying the circumstances raised “certain suspicions.”
