Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Wednesday posted a status on Facebook regarding opposition chief Khaleda Zia’s claim that the August 21 grenade attack had not been conducted by the BNP.
The status posted on his official page states: “This as personal as it can be for me.”
Joy said: “Khaleda Zia told my mother that my mother was behind the August 21st grenade attack on herself! This is the same lie the BNP tried to propagate immediately after the attack.”
He wrote: “Let me remind you, BNP Home Minister for State Lutforzaman [Lutfozzaman] Babar is behind bars for his involvement in this attack. The leader of the terrorist group that carried it out, Mufti Hannan, confessed in court that the planning meetings for this attack were conducted at Hawa Bhaban, the office of Khaleda’s Zia’s son Tareq [Tarique Rahman].
“The courts have also charged Tareq [Tarique] for this attack. In spite of all this, Khaleda Zia lied directly to my mother about this! I am shocked at the character of our opposition leader. How can someone lie so blatantly?”
He stated: “There has never been an attempt on Khaleda Zia’s life. The difference is that we are not murderers. For those who keep saying that the two parties are the same, that is hypocritical of you.”
The premier’s son also claimed that Awami League and BNP were “nothing alike.”
