Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said steps should be taken in regards to the ‘leaked’ phone conversation between Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia, if "the action was in violation of law."
The minister reiterated that the government did not release the telephone conversation.
He came up with the statement in a public dialogue program held in the auditorium at the Theatre Institute of Chittagong in the afternoon.
Earlier on he said that the conversation between the two top political leaders of the country should be released.
Referring to this, he said: “Part of the conversation was leaked before hand. I just said that the partial conversation would create misconceptions.”
Meanwhile he stated that the dialogue invitation is still on offer to the opposition chief.
The comments came a day after the phone conversation in question was made available to public.
The Awami League has proposed the formation of an all-party government to oversee the elections, while the BNP wants a caretaker government, composed of advisers from previous caretaker administrations, to be instituted before polls are held.
So far both parties seem adamant on their respective positions.
