On Wednesday Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has chosen the path of violence.
The prime minister made the statement in a meeting held at the Ganabhaban with wider Dhaka district leaders of Awami League in preparation for the national elections.
Hasina said: “Some 18 people were killed in the 60-hour hartal violence and the public wants to know what the opposition leader [Khaleda] has gained from it.”
She said: “The opposition has become violent over the war criminal issue and the hartal violence is its example.”
Talking about the telephone conversation, the PM said: “I have tolerated a lot of insults for the interests of the public and may Allah give me more patience to tolerate them.”
