Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s invitation to opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to hold dialogue on polls-time interim government was still valid.
He said: “The light of hope in this regard is shining through.”
The minister made the remarks while inaugurating the Media Centre at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday afternoon.
The Awami League Presidium member said: “Discussion cannot be arranged on condition. The Leader of the opposition should join the dialogue unconditionally as there is no alternative to resolving the ongoing crisis with talks.”
Replying to a query, he said: “BNP could not stick to their earlier stance of staging rally in Nayapaltan. They shifted their program from Nayapaltan to Shurawardy Udayn. Likewise they will have to change their mindset on joining the dialogue and participate in the upcoming elections.”
