Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the main opposition BNP, on Tuesday announced that they will stage a demonstration programme across the country on Wednesday, protesting the arrest of its leaders and the alleged attack on BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s convoy by the police.
On Monday, the police forces deployed in front of the office constrained one of the vehicles in her convoy that was carrying three members of the CSF and former JCD president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku.
Tuku was shown arrested in two cases filed accusing him of vandalism and preventing the police from discharging their duties. Later, he was produced before a Dhaka court, where Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor granted six-day remand against him.
