Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam phoned BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday and confirmed that he had received the letter from the opposition leader.
Syed Ashraf assured his counterpart that he will discuss the issue.
Mirza Fakhrul made the disclosures at a press conference in the morning.
The main opposition BNP has sent a formal letter to Awami League proposing the ruling party to hold dialogue on poll-time interim government on Tuesday morning.
A three-member delegation of opposition BNP left the letter for Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam at his city residence as he was not at home that time.
However, Syed Ashraf talked to the three-member delegation consisting of BNP Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque, lawmaker Barkatullah Bulu and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee over phone and accepted the letter.
