All-party govt: Khaleda to comment after meeting

Update : 19 Oct 2013, 11:29 AM

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to announce her party’s stance on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent proposal after meeting with her party and allies.

She said this at about 5pm on Saturday while speaking at a greeting exchange programme with the Hindu community at the Ladies club in the city’s Eskaton Area.

“We do not expect any attack on any religion by the people of other religions in the country,” said Khaleda.

The opposition chief alleged that a wrong idea is propagated that BNP is distanced from the people of Hindu community, whereas it believes in communal harmony, she said.

The BNP Standing Committee is scheduled to have a meeting tonight at the party’s Gulshan-2 office.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a televised address on Friday, proposed forming an all-party government which would run the country during the next general elections.

She also invited the main opposition BNP to suggest names from the party lawmakers who will be included in the cabinet of the polls-time government.
