Members of the Police's Detective Branch (DB) raided BNP Vice-chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka's Gopibagh residence in the capital, Tuesday afternoon.
Monirul Islam Khan, personal secretary to Sadeque Hossain Khoka, told the Dhaka Tribune that police raided the BNP leader’s house sometime around 12pm.
“Police stayed around for an hour, but Khoka was not at his house during the raid,” he said.
On Monday, the former Dhaka city mayor warned of "armed resistance" if the planned October 25 rally was foiled.
“We want to hold the October 25 rally peacefully. But we will not sit idly if the rally is foiled. We will give a bitter reply. If Awami League activists attack us, counter attacks will be launched. Everyone should be ready with machetes and axes to resist any ploy to foil our rally,” he said.
