The half-day hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir in four districts of Khulna division passed off peacefully on Sunday.
The hartal which was called in protest against the killing of one of Shibir’s activists, was enforced from 6am to 2pm in districts Chuadanga, Jhenidah, Meherpur and Kushtia.
Sources said four Shibir activists were detained during the hartal hours in Jhenaidah.
Earlier, on Thursday, Shibir activist Rafiqul Islam was killed and two others were injured in a clash with police at Darshana under Damurhudaupazila in Chuadanga.
