Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to visit Chittagong city today on a day-long schedule to inaugurate 29 different projects in the district.
She will attend a programme at the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) and address the port city dignitaries in a meeting at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque ground, said sources.
Out of the 29 projects, 12 are under the Chittagong Development Authority (CDA).
Ahead of the PM’s visit, the port city has already been given a new look, including repair works and beautifications, said CDA sources.
Security has been beefed up on the occasion of the Prime Ministers’ visit, said Banaz Kumar Majumdar, additional commissioner (crime and operation) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
According to the district administration, the PM will arrive in Chittagong Cantonment by a helicopter around 9:45am.
She will inaugurate the Bahaddarhat Flyover at Bahaddarhat intersection and the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Chittagong Press Club in Jamal Khan area of the city.
Later, Sheikh Hasina will attend the dignitaries’ meeting, where she will inaugurate several other projects digitally.
After that, the PM is scheduled to go to the BMA to inaugurate Bangabandhu Complex and attend the “Darbar” of the armed forces, after taking some rest in Chittagong cantonment at noon.
At last, she will go to Bangladesh Naval base in the city’s Patenga area, and later fly for Dhaka from there.
Earlier, the PM had visited Bhujpur area of Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong on August 30.
