Police on Friday filed a case against 150 activists of the Islami Chhatara Shibir, the student affiliate of Jamaat-e-Islami, naming 22 of them for attacking law enforcers on Thursday.
Ziarul Islam, sub-inspector of Jhenaidah police station, filed the case.
Jhenaidah police station Officer-in-charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed said: “Shibir activists brought out a rally from Kabi Sukanta Sarak at 9am as a part of their countrywide programme.”
He added: “Police barred them when the procession arrived near Jhenaidah Press Club.”
Later, police fired bullets and teargas shells to try and bring the situation under control when the agitated Shibir activists hurled bricks and bats at them, leaving two police officials injured.
