Awami League is becoming nervous as the BNP is now willing to participate in the election, said Mujahidul Islam Selim, president of Communist Party of Bangladesh, on Thursday.
The caretaker government is not the main issue, instead focus should be on dealing with the problems related to obscene amounts spent, the reliance on muscle power and the use of religion in politics, he said at a press conference.
Former election commissioner M Sakhawat Hossain said religion should be kept out of campaigning. He said: “It is high time we think about ‘First Past The Post’ voting and Proportional Representation. We must start an intellectual struggle from now onwards to that end."
