11-Party Coordinator Hamidur Rahman Azad has warned that Sunday will mark the government’s “final session” unless the Constitutional Reform Council is convened.
Speaking after a meeting of the 11-Party Liaison Committee at the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central office in Mogbazar, Dhaka, on Saturday, Azad cautioned that the alliance would mobilize on the streets with public support if the July Charter is not implemented.
He said the outline of the movement will be finalized at a top leadership meeting scheduled for March 28, stressing that the alliance demands full -- not partial --implementation of the July Charter.
Despite what he described as “minimal loss of life and property” in the “best election in history,” Azad argued that the aspirations of the people remain unfulfilled.
On the recent parliamentary walkout, Azad insisted the opposition coalition did not insult the president, but accused the BNP of “polluting” parliament by allowing “an accomplice of dictatorship” to speak.
He further alleged that the administration is showing partisan bias across all sectors and charged that the BNP is advancing party agendas through “incompetent” individuals.
