Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the government was preparing for a “competitive and participatory elections.”
“We have begun our preparations in this regard,” he said speaking to media in Gazipur on Tuesday.
According to him, the prime minister was taking time to evaluate reports from root-level activists.
“If we decided to hold an election just for show, we would have contested solo, why are we making such efforts if we were to do that?” he said.
He was speaking while visiting the development work of Joydevpur-Chandra-Tangail-Elenga highway to four lanes.
Among those present with him were Roads and Highways Division Dhaka Circle Coordinating Engineer Mohammad Shahabuddin, additional district magistrate Mohammad Mohsin, Gazipur Roads and Highways department Executive Engineer Monwar Uz Zaman and others.
