Vote AL to resist militants: PM

Update : 08 Oct 2013, 01:07 PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon countrymen into voting Awami League to power once again and resist anti-liberation forces and militancy.

She said her party wants to build a harmonious country free of terrorism like the one that was earned in 1971.

Hasina was attending a mass rally organised at the fields of Jhenaidah Government Boys School on Tuesday.

The prime minister said Awami League brought success in health, education, agriculture, information technology and other sectors where BNP turned Bangladesh into the most corrupt country of the world.

Lambasting the opposition, Hasina said the BNP chief has been trying to make the country a safe den for terrorists and militants for the interests of Pakistan.

She added: “The Quran does not permit any terrorism in the name of Islam.”

The premier criticised the version of Islam propagated through Hefazat-e-Islam and lamented Allama Shafi's opinion on women.

Hasina upheld her government's contribution towards employment, education and other sectors.

She upheld her contributions towards the development of madrasa education and said that it was her government and not the BNP who were the friend of Islamic education.

The prime minister called upon all to reelect Awami League to power for the completion of its steps towards a self-sufficient country.

Among those who spoke at the programme were Matia Chowdhury, Sahara Khatun, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, BM Mojammel Haque MP and Ruhul Amin Madani.

Prime Minister Seikh Hasina inaugurated the sculpture of the Bangabandhu Seikh Muzib titled Prerona 71 at Chuadanga bus stand.
