He asks voters to back Morshed Milton and appeals for prayers during a massive roadside rally in Shajahanpur

Update : 31 Jan 2026, 07:06 PM

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman said that he is a son of the land and will return, asking people to pray for him, and urged voters to support sheaf of paddy for the development of their area.

He urged voters to elect the party’s candidate Morshed Milton in Bogra-7 (Gabtali-Shajahanpur), assuring: “All the work for the people of the area will be done.”

He made these remarks on Saturday around 1pm during a roadside rally in Shajahanpur, Bogra, while on his way to Sirajganj. Stopping the car, he addressed the crowd from inside, in front of over 10,000 party leaders, activists, and supporters. Also present were BNP’s Bogra-7 candidate Morshed Milton, Shajahanpur Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque Shahin, and General Secretary Azizur Rahman Biddut, among others.

Referring to not visiting his ancestral village Bagbari in Gabtali, he said: “I am a son of this house; I will return, Insha’Allah, pray for me.”

Meanwhile, thousands of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters lined up along the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Shajahanpur from early morning, holding banners, festoons, and party flags to catch a glimpse of their beloved leader Tarique Rahman. The crowd showed immense enthusiasm, excitement, and energy.

Due to the large gathering in Majhira for the roadside rally, traffic on the highway moved slowly. Law enforcement, along with party leaders and volunteers, maintained order and ensured crowd management.
