BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Friday alleged that a group is conspiring to seize voters’ ballots and personal information, urging citizens to remain vigilant, while also outlining his party’s plans for farmers, youth employment, and development if elected.
Speaking at a public rally at Panchrakhi Begum Anwara Degree College field in Araihazar Upazila, Narayanganj, in the early hours of Friday (around 4:15 am), Tarique Rahman said, “People from a certain group are going to mothers and sisters and collecting their NID numbers, phone numbers, and bKash numbers.
“The ballot papers meant for expatriate voters have also been seized. What is the difference between these actions and the stolen elections of the past 15 years held in the dead of night? There is none. Both are from the same group. One is conspiring to take your votes, and the other stole votes before.
“Citizens, especially mothers and sisters, must remain alert against these conspirators and those spreading confusion.”
Referring to election day procedures, Tarique urged voters to perform Tahajjud prayers and then proceed to their respective polling centers. He added that Far prayers should be offered collectively in front of the polling centers, after which voters should cast their ballots for BNP’s election symbol, Sheaf of Paddy.
He also outlined BNP’s proposed initiatives, including providing farmers with a “farmer card” offering access to fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, loans, and insurance benefits. He mentioned plans to create employment opportunities for unemployed youth through training programs, dredging canals, and other development projects, assuring that these would be implemented if BNP wins.
The rally, presided over by Narayanganj district BNP convener Professor Mamun Mahmud, was attended by Dhaka divisional joint organizing secretary and BNP-nominated candidate for Narayanganj-2, Nazrul Islam Azad; Narayanganj-1 candidate and district BNP joint convener Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu; district BNP joint convener Mashukul Islam Rajib; and Narayanganj-4 constituency alliance candidate Mufti Monir Hossain Qasemi, among others.
Preparations for the rally began in the afternoon, with leaders and activists decorating the venue with banners, billboards, and torans (arches). The stage at the college field was set up, and the surrounding area was adorned for the chairman’s arrival.
Prior to the Narayanganj rally, Tarique Rahman participated in multiple public meetings, starting from Sylhet and continuing to Sherpur in Moulvibazar, Shayestaganj in Habiganj, Sarail in Brahmanbaria, Bhairab in Kishoreganj, and Narsingdi.
