The National Citizen Party (NCP) began its election campaign by visiting the graves of three national leaders — Huseyn Suhrawardy, Khwaja Nazimuddin, and Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq.

Party leaders also paid respects at the graves of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Hadi.

On Thursday, NCP leaders and activists first visited the graves of the three leaders at Doel Chattar. They then proceeded to the graves of Kazi Nazrul Islam and Osman Hadi near Dhaka University’s Central Mosque.

After the grave visits and prayers, the party’s top leaders formally launched their election campaign.

Speaking to the media, NCP Convener Nahid Islam urged voters nationwide to support the 10-party alliance and elect the party’s 30 candidates under the Shapla Kali symbol.

He said the NCP and the 10-party alliance would represent ordinary people in Parliament, advocating for public empowerment, reforms, and national sovereignty. He added that demanding justice in the Sharif Osman Hadi murder case and supporting a “yes” vote in the upcoming referendum are key agendas of the campaign.

Nahid Islam further stressed that all actions in the Osman Hadi case, starting with the chargesheet, should be completed before the elections. “We will ensure proper justice for this murder on Bangladeshi soil,” he said.

The program was attended by a large number of party leaders and activists, including Dhaka-8 candidate Nasiruddin Patwary.

The party later began a “March for Justice” towards the National Press Club, where leaders are scheduled to address the crowd.
