Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP’s Standing Committee said the verdict of Sheikh Hasina will set a precedent against fascism and dictatorship.
He said: “Justice has been served at the International Crimes Tribunal. This verdict will remain a milestone. Although the punishment may not be sufficient considering the gravity of the crimes, this judgment will serve as a precedent to ensure that no government or individual can become fascist, authoritarian, or a dictator in the future.”
He made these remarks to reporters on Monday afternoon at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 following the announcement of Sheikh Hasina’s verdict.
Salahuddin Ahmed further added: “This verdict demonstrates that no matter how powerful fascism may be or how long it retains control, its perpetrators will ultimately have to face the bar of justice.”
