Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the northern region of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has said that politicians often make grand speeches but continue negotiations behind the scenes.
He said: “As before, extortion, syndicates, land grabbing, drug trade and the massive business of black money are all continuing. Only the percentage of profit-sharing has changed.”
He made this remark at a rally held in front of the main gate of the Islamic University in Kushtia around 10pm on Wednesday.
Sarjis Alam said: “Politicians come forward and make grand speeches. But behind the scenes, negotiations are ongoing. They jointly run businesses in secret. In a 36-day struggle, we overthrew a fascist regime. The fight we have begun must move forward in honour of the commitment made to the martyrs. We must not fear any individual, group, or particular party. If anyone strays from the goal, walks the wrong path, or engages in wrongdoing—regardless of who they are—we must resist them.”
