Sarjis Alam, chief organizer (Northern region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP) said there would be no objection to the April election if the July Declaration and Charter are implemented by July and visible justice and fundamental reforms are ensured.
“If the July Declaration and Charter are implemented by July, and visible justice and fundamental reforms are achieved by March, there will be no objection to holding the election in April,” Sarjis made the comment on his verified Facebook page on Friday night in response to the chief adviser’s speech, reports Bangla Tribune.
In his post, he said: “After over a decade of unlawful elections and the July uprising, the upcoming 2026 election must not allow any scope for abuse of power, widespread use of black money, or displays of muscle power.
“For a transparent and fair election, the law enforcement agencies, the Election Commission, and the judiciary must earn public trust by demonstrating visible, neutral performance, proving they are capable and qualified to carry out their responsibilities impartially.”
He added: “There must be a clear stance to ensure that these key institutions are not influenced by those in power. A level playing field must be created for all political parties—large and small—to fulfill one of the core prerequisites for a fair election.”
