The National Citizen Party does not want an election roadmap announced before the reform process is completed, NCP Convener Nahid Islam has said.
He was briefing journalists on Monday evening, after a meeting of top leaders of political parties involved in the ongoing reform process with the chief adviser at the Foreign Service Academy.
Nahid said his party wants to see the implementation of the July Charter, signed by all political parties within the 30-day timeframe declared by the chief adviser.
“The NCP raised three issues during the meeting: the July Charter, reforms, and the election.”
He added: “We emphasized that the July Charter must include the context of the mass uprising and record the contributions of the martyrs.”
“The election date should only be announced after the Charter is declared and the reform process is completed, not before. Electoral system reform is essential.”
The NCP delegation also included Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Joint Member Secretary Sarwar Tusher.
