Three wings of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swechhasebak Dal, will organize a gathering titled “Rally for Establishing Youth Political Rights” in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, on Wednesday.

The announcement came during a joint press conference by the three organizations at the party's central office on Monday.

The organizers said they expect a turnout of around 1.5 million young people from the Dhaka, Sylhet, Faridpur, and Mymensingh divisions.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will join the rally virtually as chief guest.

Senior leaders, including BNP Standing Committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Salahuddin Ahmed, will also be present.

The three BNP wings have launched a month-long campaign throughout May to engage the youth.

As part of this campaign, seminars and rallies have been held in major cities, including Chittagong, Khulna, and Bogra, spanning eight days across four divisions.

The final event will be held in Dhaka.

At the press conference, Swechhasebak Dal President SM Zilani said: “We witnessed a massive youth gathering in Chittagong. Our goals were fully met in Khulna and Bogra. We are hopeful that the Dhaka rally will break all records with the participation of 1.5 million youths.”

Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna said: “The two-day program focuses on the country’s youth. On Tuesday, a seminar titled 'Future Visions of the Youth, Future Bangladesh' will be held with youth representatives from Dhaka, Faridpur, Sylhet, and Mymensingh. The rally to establish youth political rights will take place the next day.”

He added: “Youths have always been the driving force at every turning point in Bangladesh’s history. Whenever the nation has faced crises, it is the youths who have stepped forward to lead.

“The BNP respects this historical truth and believes that the youth are the future policymakers and democratic leaders of this country.”

Jubo Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan said: “Under the previous government, jobs were given based on political affiliation. The youths now demand guaranteed employment. The BNP has the capacity to ensure this.”

He added: “If the BNP comes to power, we aim to create 10 million jobs for youths within the first 18 months.”

When asked about the rally, Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir told Dhaka Tribune: “Bangladesh’s youth are currently engulfed in despair; there is no job security after education.”

He added: “We believe that no nation can progress by ignoring the dreams and power of its youth. We expect around 1.5 million young people from the four regions to join our rally.”
