Nahid Islam, convenor of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said that the two student advisers in government, Mahfuj Alam and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, have no political affiliation with the NCP.
He said that they joined the government to serve the interests of injured protestors and the families of those martyred in the movement for a mass uprising.
He made the remarks at a press conference on the current political situation, held at the party’s temporary office in Banglamotor at 12:30pm on Saturday.
Nahid Islam said: “Some are falsely portraying the two student advisers as representatives of the NCP. Let us be absolutely clear—they are not part of our party.”
He added: “If they wish to engage in politics, they must first resign from their government positions, as I did. What they choose to do next is entirely their decision, and we have no say in that.”
Also present at the press conference were NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah, and other central leaders.
