BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia goes to Bogra today as she embarks on a three-day tour of the country’s northern region to address two public rallies in Rangpur and Rajshahi tomorrow and the day after respectively.
The tour aims at mobilising public opinion in favour of the opposition alliance’s demand for a poll-time non-partisan government.
The BNP chief will start her journey for Bogra from her Gulshan residence around 3pm, said Khaleda’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
She is scheduled to stay overnight at the Bogra Circuit House and start for Rangpur on Sunday around 11am. She will address a public rally at the Rangpur Zila High School ground in the afternoon before returning to Bogra.
On Monday, the Khaleda will address another rally at the Rajshahi Madrasah ground in the afternoon and then return straight to Dhaka.
Local BNP units have taken elaborate preparations to welcome their leader and make the rallies a success. Several hundred arches have been erected from Tangail to Bogra to welcome her. Central leaders of BNP and its associate bodies held several preparatory meetings in Rangpur and Rajshahi to plan for successful rallies and mass participation of supporters.
After Rangpur and Rajshahi, the BNP leader is scheduled to address a series of rallies in Khulna on September 22, Barisal on September 29 and Sylhet on October 5.
