The six member British parliamentary team visiting the country will be meeting the opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Friday evening.
The team, led by Anne Main, will be meeting with Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence around 6pm.
The BNP Chief’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel confirmed the meeting to UNB on Thursday.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert W Gibson will also be present at the meeting.
Party sources said issues relating to the next election and the ready-made garments sector will be high on the agenda of the meeting.
Meanwhile, two British MPs, Bangladesh-born Rushanara Ali and Pakistan-born Shabana Mahmood, met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganobhaban residence on Thursday evening.
The British MPs are also scheduled to hold meetings with Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, as well as with other high-profile politicians and civil society members during their weeklong visit to Bangladesh.
They are also expected to visit a number of apparel factories to observe the working conditions. The visiting delegates are members of the All–Party Parliamentary Group in the UK.
