Update : 31 Mar 2025, 11:00 PM

Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer (Northern region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), extended Eid greetings to all, emphasizing the importance of a new, fascism-free Bangladesh.

Sarjis made these remarks while speaking to journalists after performing the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the central Eidgah in Panchagarh at 9pm on Monday. After the prayers, he exchanged Eid greetings and embraced fellow worshippers, with many taking selfies with him.

Sarjis said: “On this joyous day of Eid, I want to remind the Muslim community worldwide of one of the key purposes of Ramadan—achieving Taqwa (piety), which means staying away from all negative actions out of fear of Allah.”

He added: “May we carry the essence of Ramadan throughout the remaining eleven months of the year and uphold our duties to both Allah and our fellow human beings.”

Sarjis further expressed solidarity with oppressed Muslims around the world, saying: “Many of our Muslim brothers and sisters cannot celebrate Eid like we do today.”

He added: “Our Palestinian brothers, Muslims facing oppression from extremist Hindutva forces in India, those suffering in various Middle Eastern countries, and Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar living as refugees in our country—all of them are enduring immense hardship. We must pray for all the oppressed Muslims of the world.”

The Eid prayers at Panchagarh Central Eidgah were led by the Khatib of Panchagarh Central Jame Mosque, Md Moynul Islam.

Among those attending were Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Md Sabet Ali, former mayor of Panchagarh Municipality and BNP leader Touhidul Islam, as well as various government officials, political leaders, and worshippers from all walks of life.
