National Citizen Party (NCP) Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara has commented on concerns over the transparency of political funding following a grand entry by Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam into his home district with a fleet of over 100 vehicles.
In an "open letter" posted on her official Facebook profile, the party leader expressed appreciation for Sarjis’s previously stated commitment to a simple lifestyle but questioned the apparent contradiction in his recent display of resources.
"Just a few days ago, you publicly stated, ‘I actually have no money at the moment. I am moving on loans. This is the reality. I do not even have a wallet in my pocket.’ Your simple lifestyle impressed us and made our struggle more acceptable to the people," Tasnim said.
She pointed out that, in light of this statement, it is natural for people to wonder how such an elaborate event was financed and managed.
Given the party’s pledge to uphold transparency, honesty, and accountability, Tasnim urged Sarjis to provide a clear and reliable explanation.
"I hope you will sincerely consider this matter and present an acceptable and clear explanation to the people. I believe this will further strengthen the party’s image," the post concluded.
Sarjis has yet to respond to the concerns raised.
