The people of Bangladesh will not accept any attempt to rehabilitate the Awami League, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said on Friday.
In a Facebook post, the Jamaat leader said Bangladesh is passing through a critical juncture in its history.
"After a long period of fascist rule, the nation received a new Bangladesh as a gift from the Almighty Allah on July 36, 2024. For this, we offer countless thanks to the Almighty Allah," he added.
He also claimed that the fallen fascists, both inside and outside the country, are attempting to destabilize the nation.
In his post, the Jamaat leader emphasized that the demand of Bangladesh's 180 million oppressed people is the trial of those responsible for the genocide, the rehabilitation of the families of the martyrs of 2024, proper medical treatment for the numerous injured, disabled students, youths, and freedom-seeking individuals, and fundamental reforms to address the mess created over the past 15 years in order to prepare for a fair election.
At this moment, the people want to see the mass killing trial prioritized, he said.
There is no room for considering anything else beyond this, he added.
The Jamaat leader urged people from all walks of life to remain restrained, vigilant, and united, rising above party affiliations to play a responsible role in the country's larger interest.
