Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman visited the home of the eight-year-old child who passed away after being subjected to rape and abuse in Magura.
On Saturday, he arrived at the house in Sreepur upazila, where he assured the family of the party’s support, reports Bangla Tribune.
The Jamaat ameer spoke with the child’s mother and family members, offering them comfort and condolences, and promising to build them a concrete house.
Shafiqur Rahman said: “Jamaat-e-Islami will always stand by the child’s family and provide all kinds of support. At the same time, we demand swift justice for the rapist.”
Later at a gathering, he added: “This situation has arisen due to cultural degradation. Indian serials, short films—these are sending the wrong messages to society, corrupting culture, and damaging the family structure. Justice will be ensured only if the Quranic laws are implemented in the country. That is what we are fighting for.”
Regarding the legal proceedings, the Jamaat ameer said: “We have accepted the 90-day timeframe given for the case. However, let me issue a warning—if it extends even to 91 days, we will not accept it. Some are demanding that the trial be completed within seven days, and others are protesting for it.
"We do not agree with this because there are legal procedures that must be followed to ensure a fair trial. That is why 90 days is appropriate—not a single day more.”
