British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke on Tuesday morning, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at the Jamaat central office.
“British High Commissioner arrived at Jamaat office at 11am. During the meeting, they exchanged greetings in a very cordial atmosphere and exchanged views on the overall political situation of Bangladesh,” said a release Tuesday evening.
Apart from the present political situation of the country, establishment of democracy, upcoming elections, human rights situation, the condition of minorities in Bangladesh and the Rohingya issues dominated the discussion, it said.
They also discussed ways to further improve and strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Great Britain, the release added.
The British High Commissioner was accompanied by Political Counselor Timothy Duckett.
