Abu Hanif has resigned from his position as joint chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and rejoined the Gono Odhikar Parishad.

On Thursday, he submitted his resignation letter to the convenor and member secretary of the NCP.

In the resignation letter, he said: "I am resigning from my position as joint chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party for personal reasons."

Confirming his resignation, Abu Hanif told the media: "The reason I joined the NCP was that I believed I could unite the youth from there. Especially the youth from the 2018 quota reform movement and the July 2024 mass uprising.”

He added: “But now I feel that by returning to my previous party, Gono Odhikar Parishad, I can unite the youth more effectively. That's why I have decided to resign."

Regarding the NCP, he said: "This party emerged through the July mass uprising. Many of those who succeeded in ousting the fascist Hasina government are now associated with this party. I wish them all the best."
