Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas on Tuesday said that Sheikh Hasina must face trial.
“Sheikh Hasina must face trial. We all want the fascists to be brought to justice. However, the people will not accept any excuse for delaying the election process,” he said while speaking to journalists after visiting BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who is currently undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital.
The BNP leader said: “Everything in the country must follow due process. There are domestic and international conspiracies to delay the election. If that happens, it will be a severe blow to the country.”
He also expressed concerns about the potential emergence of a new form of fascism while trying to combat the current one, saying: “One person's thoughts, beliefs, and opinions cannot be imposed on another.”
