The BNP announced a two-day program to observe Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day with due respect on February 21, which falls on Friday.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi unveiled the programs at a press conference held at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday.
Ekushey February will be observed simultaneously as Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day, commemorating the Bengali nation’s supreme sacrifice for their mother tongue.
On Friday, the national and party flags will be flown at half-mast, and black flags will be hoisted at 6am at BNP’s district, metropolitan, upazila, thana, municipal, and various unit offices across the country.
Morning processions will take place, and tributes will be paid to the language martyrs at local Shaheed Minars.
At 6am, the national and party flags will also be flown at half-mast at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan.
Party leaders and activists will gather in front of Balaka Cinema Hall by 6:30am, wearing black badges, to participate in the morning procession.
After visiting the shrine of the language martyrs at Azimpur graveyard, they will march towards the Central Shaheed Minar to pay homage.
Additionally, on Thursday at 2:30pm, BNP will hold a discussion meeting at the Institution of Engineers Auditorium in Ramna, Dhaka.
Senior BNP leaders, eminent intellectuals, and language movement veterans will speak at the event.
