Left-leaning students call strike at CU for today

Update : 09 Sep 2013, 06:40 PM

Left-leaning student organisations of Chittagong University have called a strike at the university today, along with a programme to blockade the university’s shuttle train, to press home their demand of reducing the admission form fee for undergraduate students in 2013-2014 session.

Earlier Monday, left leaning activists under the banner of Pragitishil Chhatra Jote brought out a procession from the CU Central Students Union (CUCSU) building at noon.

A rally was also held at the CU railway station, where leaders alleged that the extra fees would create burden for admission seekers. Speakers at the rally also threatened to launch tougher movements to press home their demand.

CU authorities have increased the admission form fee by Tk100, for each unit at the university. The admission exam of Chittagong University is set to start on November 16.
