A new political party led by students and young people is set to be launched this month, with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee working towards its formation, seeking public opinion on its name and symbol.
At a press conference held in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Wednesday, a week-long program was announced to gather public opinion on the formation of the new political party.
The organizers said that they aim to reach out to the general public through this initiative. Under the slogan "A New Bangladesh in Your Eyes," they plan to collect opinions from at least 100,000 people.
To engage the public in shaping the party’s identity, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee have released a Google form, seeking suggestions on the party’s name, symbol, public opinion and expectations.
The form says: "A New Bangladesh in Your Eyes! Your opinion is the key to changing the future of Bangladesh. A new political party is being planned, which will embody the aspirations of the July Revolution and be built on democracy, justice, and equality.”
The form also says: “The strength of young people, public opinion, and the commitment to change will be the foundation of this journey. This form is not just for data collection—it is an opportunity, a responsibility, and an invitation to be part of a movement. Share your thoughts, expectations, and suggestions. Give your opinion to help build a new Bangladesh."
The form includes ten questions:
- Full name
- Gender
- Occupation
- District
- Phone number
- In your opinion, which three actions could change the country?
- Do you have any personal issues you want the new party to address?
- What do you expect from the new party?
- What should the party’s name be?
- What should the party’s symbol be?
