Rajshahi Boalia Model Police Station Officer in Charge Ziaur Rahman Zia confirmed the news with Dhaka Tribune.

The clash ensued after police intervened a procession brought out by Shibir members  in the area at 11am. The police fired teargas shells and rubber bullets to break the procession.

"We used every tactic possible to disperse the procession," Ziaur said in a phone conversation with Dhaka Tribune. "No one could be nabbed."
