Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Friday has urged everyone to take a lesson from the nightmare of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Jamaat Ameer was addressing a memorial meeting and prayer session for former lawmaker and ex-Jamaat central women’s secretary Hafeza Asma Khatun at Al Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar.

He said: “Imprudence and fascism are not at all beneficial for the nation, and this has been proved once again in the case of Sheikh Hasina.”

Terming the fascist regime as a dangerous one for them, the Jamaat chief said: “Once upon a time, we could not even communicate with each other. We were not allowed to take part in any prayer program.”

He added: “We hope such a terrible situation will never return to our lives.”

Dr Shafiqur said that Asma Khatun’s family was one of the victims of the persecution by the Awami League.

Her sons were not allowed to return to the country when Asma passed away.

Her sons could not have a final glimpse of their parents, and even we could not participate in her Namaz-e-Janaza, the Jamaat chief added.

Niaz Makhdum, the elder son of Asma Khatun, chaired the function, while her younger son, cultural personality Saifullah Mansur, was the moderator.

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, central leader Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Advocate Jashim Uddin Sarker, Dr Mamun Al Azmi, Hemayet Hossen, Barrister Najib Momen, and Dhaka City South Unit Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul were present.
