BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir mentioned that the sports sector in the country requires apolitical unity.

He made these remarks while addressing the Zia Inter-Thana Football Tournament organized by the North City BNP at City Club Field in Pallabi, Dhaka, on Friday.

The BNP Secretary General said: "In our new journey, what is most needed in the sports arena is a non-political unity and the promotion of talent. Everyone should have equal opportunities, and from there, the best players should emerge."

He added: "In August, we saw that the students and the people played the most significant role in ousting the fascist government. The Awami League has ruled Bangladesh for 15 years, destroying every institution in the country."

Mirza Fakhrul also said: "It’s unprecedented for a political party to organize a football tournament. This reflects modern political thinking, and we thank our acting chairman for this initiative."

The tournament was inaugurated by Aminul Haque, the convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP.

He said: "We want a sports sector where we can create a drug-free nation and build a beautiful Bangladesh.”

“We envision a sports sector free from political influence, open for everyone, especially for the common people at the grassroots level," he added.
