He said: "The people of Bangladesh have fought for years against fascism. The current political arrangement has given nothing but crisis and conflict. A rebellion has been organized by the students and the public against this. The clear message from the students and people is that this system will no longer continue. We need a new system. Therefore, the upcoming elections will be for the new political arrangement, the establishment of a democratic constitution, the reform of state institutions, and the creation of laws in favor of the people. The future parliament will be the place for our struggle. We will continue that struggle."
He made these remarks at a public dialogue titled "New Political Arrangement," organized by Ganosamhati Andolan on Thursday, at the Shah Rahat Ali Mazar premises in the Choyfullakandi Union of Bancharampur Upazila, Brahmanbaria.
In his speech, Bachu Bhuiya, a special guest, emphasized that the new political arrangement must ensure fair prices for farmers' crops, ensure living wages for workers, and secure trade union rights.
Soikat Arif, the General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, said: "The clear message from the student-people uprising in July was that the students and the people did not only want the fall of Sheikh Hasina but wanted the abolition of this fascist system. They wanted a Bangladesh free from inequality. This requires a new political arrangement. In that new arrangement, the state must ensure education for every child, guarantee fundamental rights for all citizens, ensure a dignified life for workers and farmers, and reform state institutions. Otherwise, this people's uprising will fail. We will not allow this uprising to fail."
