International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam said that 2025 will be the year of trials for former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League’s crimes against humanity.
He made the remark after exchanging New Year's greetings on Wednesday.
He expressed hope that the new year would see proceedings for the trials of the Awami League's misdeeds over the past 16 years.
Tajul Islam said: “Judicial proceedings will begin in the main building once the chief justice gives consent. The judicial process is moving forward to address all the crimes committed by the previous Awami League government.”
He said: "The investigation into crimes against humanity committed in July-August is ongoing. Bringing Sheikh Hasina back is a state decision. However, the tribunal will proceed with the judicial process."
