Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that a group of conspirators is trying to divide the nation into two factions, majority and minority.

Speaking at a public meeting in Birganj Government College, Dinajpur, on Sunday, he said: “No nation in the world has ever achieved honor, dignity or progress by being divided. This division has brought us ruin and we are determined to bury this divide once and for all.”

He emphasized the need for national unity, saying: “There are countless conspiracies against us and against the country. The combined strength of the 180 million people of Bangladesh, with their 360 million strong hands, will prevent these plots."

He expressed that despite the nation's immense potential, enriched by its lush greenery and abundant natural resources, significant challenges persist.

He attributed these issues to the actions of previous leaders, accusing them of misgovernance, looting and transferring the country's wealth to foreign lands.

He said: "Over the last 15 years, 2.6 trillion taka has been laundered abroad. First, they sent the money and then they fled. Those who genuinely love their country would never abandon it.”

He further added: “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has lost 11 of its top leaders, who were killed by the previous government. They were executed under the guise of judicial processes. Despite this, not a single member of Jamaat has fled the country.”

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also noted: “After August 5, everyone can speak freely. Earlier, people lived in a culture of fear and intimidation. But now, not only Jamaat-e-Islami but the entire nation has gained freedom and independence.”
