Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the BNP's Standing Committee, has said that India is pushing the people of Bangladesh towards division.

He made this comment on Saturday at a protest rally organized by Voice of Times in front of the National Press Club.

Dr Zahid Hossain said: "India and the corrupt Awami League are conspiring to destroy Bangladesh's economy. Extremists in India have violated the Vienna Convention by attacking the Assistant High Commission and dishonouring the national flag."

The BNP leader also commented that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains silent while minorities in his own country face persecution.

He further said: "India is trying to mislead the people of Bangladesh. They are trying to create unrest by provoking. They are trying to push the people of Bangladesh towards division.”

Emphasizing that the public will not tolerate any conspiracy, Dr Zahid said: "The Awami League is conspiring against the country because they fear facing justice for their murders, plundering, and oppression."
