Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has said steps will be taken if any new organization is formed using BNP’s name.
He said this during a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
Rizvi said that apart from the recognized associate bodies of the BNP, there are pro-BNP professional groups such as the teachers’ body, the physicians’ organization DAB, the engineers and agriculturists' body AAB, the Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad, and the medical technologists' association.
He emphasized that if any new organization is formed under the name of the late president Ziaur Rahman, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, or using the name "Jatiotabadi," actions will be taken against it.
Furthermore, he added that steps will be taken against any BNP member who participates in programs organized by such unauthorized groups.
Rizvi said that the students and people toppled the fascist Sheikh Hasina government through a groundbreaking movement.
He also urged the government to take effective measures to dismantle market syndicates and reduce the prices of essential commodities.
The BNP leader recalled that the late President Ziaur Rahman had achieved food self-reliance for a country that once faced famine.
Rizvi warned that if market syndicates are not addressed, the low-income and working-class people will suffer greatly.
